BRANCH ORGANISER

The UNISON Essex County Branch is recruiting for a Branch Organiser.

UNISON Essex County Branch represents members working for Essex County Council. Essex Fire & Rescue and LEA schools in Essex.  The branch covers a diverse range of occupational groups.

There has never been a more important time to protect our members working in local government and encourage those that are not members to join a powerful voice. Are you a people person with good listening and problem solving skills? Do you possess the determination to make a difference to people’s lives?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful individual to support our growing branch. The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to recruit new members and develop new activists, working with and supporting branch officers to organise and build our branch. To undertake this role you must have good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent administrative, IT and organisational skills and knowledge of the trade union movement.

The Branch office is in Chelmsford and you will need to be able to travel to workplaces covered by the branch, across the county of Essex. Work related travel expenses will be reimbursed.

The post is for a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance, working 3 days (21 hours) per week. An actual working pattern will be agreed on appointment.
